Postcards get in there with little fanfare, make your announcement, and have the benefit of immediate impact. When something’s received in the mail, particularly unsolicited, there is always the danger that such an item will be summarily tossed in the trash without any care as to the message it may carry. There’s the envelope with very little excitement to it and if your recipient even decides to tear that open, you’d better have a heckuva letter inside to make any sort of impact at all.

But with postcards, if you do your job right and design them well, they can be like mini art pieces, demanding attention from the moment the mailbox is opened. If you announce your special news with postcards that appeal to the eye, you have a foot in the door in those first crucial seconds.
